AUSTIN CENTRAL LIBRARY
Lake|Flato Architects and Shepley Bulfinch designed the Austin Central Library that was completed in 2017.
Sitting beside Shoal Creek and overlooking Lady Bird Lake, the building sits at the western edge of downtown. The new library is organized around a six story atrium and maximizes the use of daylight. An open stair connects the levels with art displayed around the atrium. Outdoor reading porches provide a place to read or study while enjoying the views. Sustainability is the focus of the design with a mix of stone, wood and metal.
Nearby try True Food Kitchen for a drink or a meal. Be sure to see this library when you visit Austin.
