BERLIn PHILHARMONIE
In the Tiergarten, Hans Scharoun designed the Berlin Philharmonie that was completed in 1963.
Gold aluminum panels wrap the facade, and the lobby has a series of open stairs and landings putting the concert goers on display. The main hall has the seating arranged in a terraced vineyard form around the stage, an idea pioneered here and used again in Sydney and Los Angeles. The concert hall seats 2,440 for orchestra performances.
If you are hungry, find the restaurant Viet Bowl nearby for dinner or a drink.
Be sure to hear some music at the Philharmonie.
