CLARK ART INSTITUTE
The Clark Art Institute in Williamstown, Massachusetts was created in 1955.
Beginning in 2001, the site was planned for expansion around the landscape and reflecting pools. Annabelle Selldorf renovated the existing buildings and Tadao Ando designed two additions. The art collection consists of paintings, sculpture, prints and decorative arts from the fourteenth to the early twentieth century.
The simple architecture is organized around walls that frame views of the landscape. The concrete and glass contrasts with the original building and the natural landscape.
