EMERSON COLLEGE LA

Boston based Emerson College asked Morphosis Architects to design their Los Angeles campus which opened in 2014.

The futuristic design addresses Sunset Boulevard with a cube form that is carved away. Two 10 story residential towers frame the open space where an open stair connects the classroom levels and provides a place for students to hang out. The local codes required a helipad that also shades the open space between the residential towers. Sunshades direct the light into the interior spaces.
