GUARANTY BUILDING

Adler and Sullivan designed the Guaranty Building in 1896 in Buffalo.

The skyscraper is one of Louis Sullivan’s most beautiful buildings He wanted to develop a new design suited to this new building type, the skyscraper.

Terra cotta panels are placed on piers to emphasize the vertical lines up to a strong horizontal cornice above the row of circular windows. The terra cotta panels are inspired by flowers, seed pods and branches.

Nearby in the Allentown neighborhood try Casa Azul.
