GUGGENHEIM BILBAO
Gehry Partners designed the branch of the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao that opened in 1997.
The museum is located along the Nervion River and was part of a larger redevelopment of the city. The design is a fusion of curvilinear forms around a central light filled atrium. There is a public plaza at the entry and a curved riverside promenade connecting it to the city. The facade is composed of titanium metal panels, limestone and glass. Richard Serra’s sculptures occupy the largest gallery.
Grab something to eat and drink at the museum restaurant and enjoy your visit.
