MARTIN HOUSE AND VISITORS’ PAVILION

Frank Lloyd Wright designed the Darwin D. Martin House in 1906.

Wright considered this one of the best examples of his Prairie School houses. The house is connected to a conservatory and a carriage house with a pergola. The site also includes a house for Martin’s sister and a gardener’s cottage. Brick work and roof lines accentuate the horizontal.

Toshiko Mori designed the visitors’ pavilion in 2009 engaging in a dialog with the house.
