TWA HOTEL

In 1962, the TWA Flight Center, designed by Eero Saarinen and Associates, opened with a futuristic design inspired by the idea of flight and the idealism of era.

The terminal has a wing shaped concrete shell roof supported on four “Y” shaped piers. Skylights are located between the shells to let in natural light and allow for expansion and contraction of the shells. Tube shaped corridors connect the terminal with the gates. The terminal closed in 2002 with a new terminal built behind it and then reopened in 2019 as the TWA Hotel with a sensitive restoration by Beyer Blinder Belle and an immersive, Instagram ready hotel design by Lubrano Ciavarra Architects where you can experience the history of the terminal or enjoy the rooftop pool.

You can find food or drink right in the sunken lounge, so relax and take in the space, or for something different, try the cocktail lounge inside the Lockheed Constellation Starliner.

Visit this hotel the next time that you are at the JFK airport.
