STOCKHOLM PUBLIC LIBRARY

Opening in 1928, the Stockholm Public Library was designed by Erik Gunnar Asplund.

The building has a square plan with a cylindrical rotunda rising from the center. The library is a simplified classical design with modern elements and beautiful details. A high narrow entrance hall has a black stucco relief with motifs from Homer’s Iliad. Galleries around the rotunda provide access to the books and other spaces are arranged around the perimeter.

Nearby, try Cafe Pascal for a meal or a coffee.

Please check with the library for opening during construction.
