WOODLAND CEMETERY

Erik Gunnar Asplund and Sigurd Lewerentz designed the Woodland Cemetery in 1915, winning an international competition.

The cemetery is within the forest and the buildings are designed to be in harmony with the landscape. The path from the entrance gates leads up to a granite cross, and the pond adjacent to a tree lined meditation hill. Asplund’s Woodland Chapel dates from 1922 and the Woodland Crematorium from 1940.

Nearby you’ll find the Robin Delselius Bakery for coffee and a pastry.

Visit the Woodland Cemetery when you’re in Stockholm.
